Why damp lofts can be a problem
If you had moisture or damp issues in any of the rooms in your house, you would probably try and deal with it as soon as possible. However, when these issues occur in the loft it can be a case of out of sight, out of mind.
Condensation builds up when warm air hits cold air, such as when warm air from the insulated rooms below enters the loft. This moisture can cause problems with mould, rotten beams or joists and unpleasant odours.
The best way to prevent moisture build up
It is tempting to try and solve these problems with ventilation, but this only really works in warmer or heated spaces. Ventilating a cold space won’t reduce the damp problem. It will simply cause more warm air to escape your home, leading to a bigger carbon footprint and higher energy bills.
That’s why the solution is to try and make sure your loft space is kept as warm as possible – and that means better insulation. Which is where our services come in.
How our insulation products work
Our loft insulation products were first developed by NASA to prevent heat from engines reaching the fuel tank. That’s quite a pedigree. It has been used across the USA and Canada for many years and is now breaking into the UK market. Once installed, there is no maintenance needed and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
Unlike some other forms of insulation, the spray foam is porous and allows the space to breathe, whilst maintaining a constant temperature. That means you get all the benefits of insulation without the build-up of condensation or issues with rotting wooden structures.
Our condensation test allows us to gauge how much foam is required and how much existing fibreglass insulation to remove to make sure there will never be any condensation. We make sure the job is done correctly and meets with all current building regulations.
